QCQ is short for “Quotation-Comment-Question.” It begins with a Quotation of 1-3 sentences. It then has a Comment. And it then asks a Question that encourages engagement from others. Quotation (with page number or parag number or time stamp if video/audio)

“Participation itself in the online world creates a distinct sense of belonging and empowerment in users.” (pg 112)

Comment (250-500 words)

This article was really interesting, and its take on social media were definitely strong, and I did disagree with some points. The quote I picked out stood out to me because it embodies what social media should be used for. One should have a platform to share their thoughts respectfully, show their creative side, and not be worried someone will hate it. I understand that having opinions and expressing them is fine, can even be beneficial, but respectfully. If everyone respects everyone on social media, it would be a much healthier platform for people to engage on. The world of social media is a powerful place, and the community you’re in online can really help expand your presence and, like the quote said, empower you. Most people have a clique they are a part of, and that group of people really gives you a sense of belonging, which can be super impactful when maybe that isn’t as present at home or in school. Social media can be such a positive, uplifting place for people to go. Still, it can also be filled with hatred and negativity of those who have nothing better to do or are feeling lonely, sad themselves, and decide to take it out online, hide behind the screen and make social media a toxic environment. I think social media can have substantial positive impacts on people in all kinds of ways, and I support its use. I just hope it can stay a healthy place for people to use and grow sooner than later.

Question

Can different social media platforms like facebook and instagram, have some kind of updated regulation system that warns users if their comments or posts seem not beneficial to the world and eventually delete or ban them?
